I'm Louise and I've lived in Amsterdam my whole life. Just like me you’ll love it.

Our city exists 700 years and is, since 1808, the capital of the Netherlands. We speak Dutch and our currency is the Euro.

In this city you'll feel immediately at home. The people are nice and friendly.

The name of the city brings to your mind the immortal paintings of Vincent Van Gogh and sad remembrance of Anne Frank. But whether your memory is of beauty or melancholy, Amsterdam is the city you should never fail to visit in your next sojourn to Europe.

But like all other vacationers, you are wondering where to stay in Amsterdam.

There are several options to choose from; you could stay in a hotel, a hostel, an inn or an apartment rental. Your choice depends on several factors like your budget, the location of the place, duration of stay, number of companions and reason for visit.

The five star hotels of Amsterdam will never fail you in offering only the best in accommodation, food, service and facilities. Among these are: Amsterdam N. Ho Grand Hotel, RHO Hotel, Golden Tulip Hotel, Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel and Hotel Pulitzer Amsterdam.

They are located in the heart of the city, near the museums, tram services and shopping areas. But their rates could be quite stiff especially during the peak season. They could go as high as E90.25 to E159 a night. But during off seasons, their discount could go as low 80% off. Those below the five star category are lower in cost but also less in the amenities. An economical hotel rate can be as low as E 12 per night.

A hostel is another possible place to stay; it has the ambiance of a hotel but its rates are lower. This type of budget holiday accommodation is found all over Amsterdam and each visitor has a variety of places to select.

Rate could go as low as E12 per night. Inns are scattered all over the city offering the ease and comfort desired by travelers and lesser the cost of a hotel. Nightly rates are from E85 to E125. Some well known inns are Hampshire Inns Prinsengracht, Holidays Inns Amsterdam, Comfort Inn and a lot of others. Located in the centre of the city, they have easy access to go any place.

But the best place to stay are the apartment rentals, also called short-let apartments, are self-catering places which are suitable for families, groups and couples. It is just like staying in your own home where a large kitchen is available for your convenience. Fantastic corporate rates are given for those who will stay for 2 weeks and another discount is the 35% off per person. Nightly rentals are from E33 to E98 per person.

Some of the apartment rentals highly recommended: Rembrandt Apartment, Leidseplein Loft, Amsterdam Apartment and the Dam Square Maisonette III. Most apartment rentals are located near museums, shopping areas, tram terminals and tourist spots.

Amsterdam Forum selected the following as the best areas in Amsterdam: Oud Zuid - just beyond the Museum Quarter, Leidseplein which is at the apex of the city, Vondelpark just near the Casino and the Jordaan in a small neighborhood beyond the house of Anne Frank.

Most of these accommodations mentioned are within the best areas of the city. So your problem on where to stay in Amsterdam is answered. Lets me indulge you with my guide and don’t forget, that you can always contact me with your question, even if you are already in Amsterdam and need help!
